Acupuncture is used to help to relieve the discomfort associated with a variety of diseases and conditions.
Acupuncture needles are hair thin needles. They are sterile, metallic (steal) and solid. There may be none or slight discomfort when inserting the needles. We personally describe the possible discomfort as being like a mild mosquito bite. Most of the clients feel relaxed or energised when needles are inserted.
Unfortunately, it is hard to give an answer to this question. The exact amount of sessions a person needs cannot be specified. Conditions vary because all individuals are unique and their complaints and symptoms are approached in this way. It depends on the severity of the symptoms as well. However, it is quite common to have six to eight sessions in general.
During the first session, a practitioner will have detailed consultation with clients about the clients' health, lifestyle, etc... The questions may seem beyond the specific symptoms for which you are seeking treatment. This is in line with the holistic nature of the complementary therapies. About any medical conditions you have will also be asked, which may or may not be related to the clients' current symptoms, and about all medications and other treatments they are currently having. The practitioner will continue with checking the Client's tongue and pulse. According to the condition and therapy plan, the client may lie down face down, the other way around, on their sides on the couch or their therapy will be continued when they are sitting. The needles will be inserted. This part of the session may take between 15- 30 minutes after needles are inserted according to the condition and the client. On follow ups, the consultation part will be shorter, the rest of the session will be the same with the first one.
