Acupuncture is used to help to relieve the discomfort associated with a variety of diseases and conditions. Find out more here.
Acupuncture needles are quite fine needles. They are sterile, metallic ( mostly steal) and solid. There may be none or slight discomfort when inserting the needles. I personally describe the possible discomfort as being like a mild mosquito bite. Many clients report feeling relaxed or energized once the needles are inserted.
Unfortunately, providing a specific answer to this question is hard. The number of sessions a person needs can't be definitively determined. Each individual is unique, and their symptoms and complaints are approached according to that. The severity of the symptoms also plays a significant role. However, in general, we recommend having 6-8 sessions to begin observing noticeable improvements in most cases, .
During the initial session, the practitioner conducts a thorough consultation with clients regarding their health, lifestyle, and related factors. Questions may extend beyond the specific symptoms prompting treatment, reflecting the holistic approach of complementary therapies. The practitioner also inquires about any medical conditions, regardless of their direct relevance to the current symptoms, as well as details regarding all medications and ongoing treatments.
Following the consultation, the practitioner proceeds to assess the client's tongue and pulse. Depending on the client's condition and the therapy plan, they may be positioned lying face down, face up, or on their sides on the treatment couch, or therapy may continue with the client seated. Needles are then inserted, with this phase of the session typically lasting between 20 to 30 minutes, adjusted according to the individual's condition and response.
During follow-up sessions, the consultation phase may be shortened, while the remainder of the session mirrors the initial one.
Please stay at home if you have any acute symptoms such as severe cough, fever, loss of smell, shingles infection on the skin, conjunctivitis, etc. It is highly recommended to stay at home until the symptoms have resolved. However, after informing your GP about your condition, please contact me to discuss further and arrange an online session. I may be able to assist in managing your symptoms alongside your medical treatment.
